I'm a 26-year-old woman living on the East Coast. I love crafting, baking, chocolate, watching TV/movies, animals, and nature.
I'm originally from California. My favorite things to do there are swim and boogeyboard at the amazing beaches, and enjoy all the different cultural and nature spots.
In high school, I volunteered and then was hired assisting the summer camps and office of a museum during my summers. If I finished my work early, I'd put on an animal outreach tag and carry out one of the museum's two bearded dragons to the exhibition areas, and would show them to museum visitors. This is when I started thinking about getting a beardie of my own, and last year I finally got Kaiju the bearded dragon, from a 10 year-old boy who had named Kaiju Floyd. As big fans of Pacific Rim, my husband and I settled on the name Kaiju pretty quickly, and if we get Kaiju a girlfriend one day we'll call her Jaeger. Kaiju is our buddy, our bed and breakfast mascot, our cuddle bug, and he's endlessly entertaining. He has at least 10 costumes from etsy or made by me or my husband. While some people might awkwardly share pictures of their children with new acquaintances, we awkwardly share pictures and videos of Kaiju.
After finishing up undergrad, my husband and I decided we eventually wanted to have a family on the West Coast, but we wanted to try out something different for awhile. After a five-week road trip across the country, camping, staying in people's guest rooms, and spending one night in an awesome dog-shaped bed and breakfast-Dog Bark Park Inn- we decided to stay in the northeast. We've been here for a few years now. I'm running a small bed and breakfast thanks in part to our amazing landlord who has encouraged my small business from the get-go, and my husband is pursuing his PhD.
My b&b is a near-constant source of interesting people, exposure to different cultures, professions, and lifestyles, funny stories, and stress that my guests are happy- I'm a perfectionist. But I can also be really lazy and sometimes I get super bored of doing 80-ish loads of laundry per month, cleaning the rooms, etc. I've thought about hiring an assistant but I think I'd be too hard on them and would scare them away pretty quickly, plus 4 rooms isn't too much to manage by myself. My husband is usually willing to help with just one or two groans if I ask him.
I love to craft, and I tried running a craft business for awhile before the bed and breakfast, but I discovered I don't enjoy making a single craft over and over again. Instead, I like to try lots of new projects, usually as a birthday or holiday gift for a friend. I'll make a practice project- say, a stuffed dinosaur, and then usually another, and then finally a third one that I'm pretty happy with. I keep the dopey-looking 1st projects around, I donate the okay-ish looking projects, and then I move on to a different craft. I also feel guilty about charging money for my crafts. That's why I give them as gifts, and why I've also been checking out different exchange websites like this one.
Besides crafting and Kaiju, my hobbies include Binge-watching shows (House of Cards and Superstore were my most recent marathons), short local road trips, trying new restaurants and recipes at home, hanging out with an awesome kid for the past few months as part of a local mentorship program, and going on nature walks.

Allergies
I am allergic to all coconut/palm products, including coconut, coconut milk, coconut oil, palm oil, tropical oils, margarine, etc. It’s an ingredient in a lot of junk food, including candy, chips, fried foods, crackers, and packaged cookies. The lower quality stuff almost definitely has it, and the higher quality stuff may or may not have it. A couple safe candies I’ve found are See’s Candy, Cadbury, most Dove stuff, and a lot of things (maple, hard candy, lollipops, etc.) that don’t have chocolate in them. But I do love chocolate. I’m lucky that it’s not super serious, I can be in proximity to it and touch it for a few minutes without any reaction. I just can’t consume it or use coconut lotion/beauty products. If you accidentally send me something with palm/coconut, it’s not a big deal, I’ll just share it with my husband or friends instead of eating it myself.
I'm also allergic to persimmons.
Things I Dislike
Glitter
Pigeons. Don’t get me started on pigeons…
Perfume/Scented candles/smelly things: I have guests who stay at our place particularly because we’re perfume-free.
Cigarette/Cigar Smoke
Religious items, except for things inspired by Buddhism, Hinduism, Toaism, ancient religions. I love the art/history that is based on those religions.
Pop figures. Their eyes are just TOO BIG
I get out all my mail in a timely manner (usually early), so if you don't receive something please let me know ASAP.
Every once in a while I'll be floored for a few days from food allergies, and if I can't get a package in the mail on time for this reason I'll let you know.I want to make you happy with a wonderful swap :)
I take pictures of all the postcards and outgoing packages I send. I'll also get tracking numbers for any packages bigger than a flat envelope, so if you don't get something I can at least send you pictures of it until I track it down, and we can check and see if I messed up on the address or something.
I try to go above and beyond with every swap, so if there's something missing from a swap or it doesn't seem as good as it should I probably just forgot to add something to your package. If this happens please let me know and I'll remedy the situation immediately :)
