April 9th: The local mail has been losing letters (not just mine, a lot of people have been complaining) so until they figure out how to fix it I'm going to not join swaps. I have many envelopes that show up on my USPS Informed Delivery but never make it to my mailbox. It isn't fair to those who swap with me.
Jan. 5. 2022: Slowly getting back into swapping things! Mostly in groups that I'm in right now.
11-9-2021 : Taking a break from Swapbot due to some personal life events. I can check messages, but as of right now I won't be joining swaps. 💗
California born, Idaho raised, Tennessee living!
My name is Ashley and my family of four moved to Tennessee over a year ago for a big life change. We're absolutely love it and don't miss the snow at all! My two kiddos are ten years apart but they're thick as theives!
We have two dogs and two cats which sadly had to be temporarily re-homed with family and friends until we had out own home to bring them to here. Our fur babies have been reunited with us and they've been adjusting wonderfully. We added a puppy to our home as well and she keeps our old dogs lively!
I don't like flying a lot of personal information out on the internet for all to see (my days of being an over-sharer are over!). But I am married with a 14 yr old and a 3 yr old.
Daily journaling and rock painting.
My daughter and I have been painting rocks and hiding them for about two years now. Our artistic abilities have made a lot of progress since starting. Unfortunately the rock painting community isn't as active here in Tennessee as it was in Idaho so we hide many more than we find!
I've kept a daily journal for over two years though I fell off the wagon over the summer of 2019 while all of fun journaling stuff was held up by the moving company 😬 Worst experience ever!
I use a lot of magazine clippings, washi tape, and stickers of all kinds. I also like to add things that I find out and about (business cards, menus, post cards) in my journal. I love the thrill of making a beautiful page with things that most would toss out! I enjoy using watercolor paints and pencils in my journal as well but I'm not a master artist.
I'm trying to find a way to make my hand lettering better. I have"loud" handwriting as a teacher once told me but I'm not saying that it is messy by any means. My favorite pens are fine-liner type but I'm experimenting with brush pens for the fancier writing.
I read and listen to audiobooks constantly!
Some of the ones that touched me the most are...
Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded by Hannah Hart
Everything's Eventual by Stephen King
Looking for Alaska John Green
100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Just Mercy by Brian Stevenson
Build Your House Around My Body by Violet Kupersmith
Honor by Thrity Umrigar
I had a pen pal from junior college that I would write back and forth with fairly regularly until just a few months ago. I love to write and always have a fair amount of stamps on hand to send letters! I have a lot of cards and paper to my husband's dismay. I just love the different things I can use to mail to others.
Since then I have done many swaps from Swapbot and regularly send letters, cards, and goodies back and forth. I do sometimes drop off due to personal reasons, but never more than 3-4 months. If you're my pen pal and haven't heard from me and are wondering what's going on, send me a message! It should help jump start me to replying to letters. Or just wait a few more weeks and I'll be sending you a letter or card. 🙃
I don't have time to go in to the post office and hand it to people behind the counter - since I keep teacher hours I will often leave and return home without seeing the sun all day! So I drive through and drop them off in the blue box. So typically when I mark something as sent it probably gets picked up after 5pm that day and will be postmarked for the next day after it is sorted at the facility. I try always send within a day or two of the partners being given and have never sent late.
I am so thankful for whatever someone sends to me, but some of my current interests included:
-washi samples - I would love solid bright colors, but will gladly accept all types
-magazine cut outs (interesting colors/patterns and phrases)
-stamped images as I love fussy cutting and using them on my journal pages
-stickers of anything (I give the little kid type ones to my 5 yr old)
-tags
-scrapbooking paper scraps (no smaller than 1x1 inch)
-Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan (other Disney is okay too, but those are my loves)
-Hispanic heritage, specifically Mexican heritage
-I enjoy inspirational quotes and sayings but I'm not overly religious so Bible verses don't usually resonate with me
-Book pages, especially in foreign languages
-my absolute unicorn wish would be one of those Janice Joplin stamps that the USPS had over a decade ago! Cancelled/used is fine, I just loved those stamps but I wasn't journaling then and don't have any, lol
