My favorite word in the English language is serendipity. When I was younger, I studied art and read voraciously. But working for many years (even at a career I liked) wore away at every crevice and gnarl of my personality. I would love to recapture some of myself.
If I had all the money I needed, I would travel all over collecting examples of vernacular graphic design, like the signs posted on telephone poles. I like: reading, cooking Indian food, working in my shade garden, shopping at Goodwill, Buddhism, ephemera, tea, graphic design, the TV show Community, chocolate, Anthropologie (can't afford it, want to live there), Brit pop, anything Japanese or Chinese, calendar tea towels, anything vintage, anything embroidered.
Other things I like: flower seeds, vintage magazines, postcards, anything kitschy or retro, anything turtles, pins, hair stuff, nail polish, bumper stickers, spice mixes. Things I collect: depression glass, African bags, vintage sewing baskets, acro agate glassware, flat pennies, foreign coins. I have a 9 year old daughter and we collect photos of cars plastered with bumper stickers and of derelict homes overgrown by nature, so if you know of those and just snap a photo, that would be a thrill.
