I'm a new mom of an 8-month-old, and although I'm tired, I'm loving this new adventure. My husband is a true partner for whom I am so grateful! My dog, a Shih-Poo, is 11 years old and has been my buddy through thick and thin. I love my family!
His first birthday is in a few months, and I'm already planning ahead for a children's book-themed party. If you have any ideas or supplies to share or suggest, let me know!
I love crafting of all kinds, including sewing, quilting, junk journaling and other paper crafting, cross stitching, yarn crafts, and more. This November, I made my first stockings for the whole family. And I also made a quilt for my soon-to-be-born nephew. It was my first machine-quilted quilt. In December, I made another baby quilt for a friend. My first quilt was a T-shirt quilt, which I tied. So that brings me to three quilts total! I'm excited about it.
I collect pins (such as Disney pins and other lapel pins). I always get one (or more) when I go to a traveling Broadway show. And I usually try to get one if they're available when I travel.
I like sparkles, vintage, things that are blue and/or teal especially. Finding something unique is always fun. My favorite artists are Monet and Van Gogh.
I love to travel. I love maps and exploring. I've been to South Africa, Italy, Scotland, Mexico, Guatemala, and Canada. Plus many states within the U.S. I certainly LOVE to receive things from other countries!
I was a '90s kid, so you can probably make some assumptions about my likes from that.
Love space-themed things, dinosaurs, cool rocks, and other truly nerdy loves.
I also really love turning "trash" into something useful and/or beautiful. Let's save the earth!
I am a dog person. And forever a horse girl. :) And I love giraffes.
Reading is life. Favorite books: "Anne of Green Gables" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." But of course I love a million different books. Historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, YA, and more. I LOVE a good memoir. And give me a good journalistic book doing a deep dive into a historical event any day of the week.
Also, I love children's books and was collecting them before I finally had a child to share them with. The theme of his nursery when he arrived? Children's literature, of course. I have hung book pages as art on his walls from some of my favorites, and the shelves on the walls include books with matching items: Black Beauty with a matching crocheted horse my bestie made; Llama Llama Red Pajama with a stuffed llama; Danny and the Dinosaur with a ceramic dino next to it. I really love how it turned out.
(Some other favorite children's books: Matilda, The Napping House, Winnie the Pooh, Little House on the Prairie, and a new favorite: You Nest Here With Me.)
Of course I love Disney, but also all the nerdy loves, like Star Wars and superhero movies. Love Superman and Captain America especially. Favorite movies: Gladiator, Titanic, Ever After, Back to the Future ...
As stated above, I love crafting of all kinds. I do feel like I go through spurts of one kind of craft or another. I was recently all about junk journaling. Right now, I've transitioned into a sewing phase. I just made stockings and a couple of baby quilts. I'm pretty deeply into obsessive quilting right now.
I do enjoy stickers, as well. I had a Stickii subscription for a while, and I would go between the "Cute," "Pop," and "Vintage" offerings often. I liked them all! I do especially like those cute animal kawaii-type stickers. Cute little turtles and sloths? C'mon. Can't help but love 'em.
I am a Christian, so I won't be bothered by faith-related things if that's your jam. And because of that, I'm also not really into things like the horoscope, Tarot cards, or anything like that. It would be better to send items along those lines to someone who will use and appreciate them! :)
I don't like coffee. I do like tea. Green tea and chai tea are favorites, but there aren't many I don't like. Chai tea latte is my go-to drink in a coffee shop. I also love hot chocolate, so that's always welcome.
One note: I am nursing right now. Some teas contain ingredients that are not recommended for nursing moms, so I try to avoid those.
Comments
Sorry, I didn't realize there were comments on here. :) I like knitting and crocheting, though I'm not particularly great at either one!
Welcome to Christian Swappers Group! It's great to have you here!
Blessings,

what kind of yarn crafts do you enjoy?
