I'm 30 years old, fascinated with zombies, thrift stores, and textile crafts. I live with my boyfriend and our two kitties. I read a lot, and write a little. I love, and have, tattoos and piercings. I read comics. I only play Super Mario Bros. video games. I never grew out of the dinosaur phase that most kids seem to go through. I love cereal and eat way too much of it. I currently volunteer at a not-for-profit thrift store, and have done other volunteer work in the past. When I see one of those plastic things that hold a 6-pack of drinks together on the ground, I break the rings. Sadly, I find those often.
I'm the proud mommy of two kitties; a big mostly-black cat named Madison, after the piercing - he has a white spot on his neck where the piercing would be placed; and a tabby named Nightcrawler, after the X-Men character. You can call them Maddy or Mad Cat, and Wormy or Stripy Pants for short. :)
I'd love to visit (or live in) Australia and/or New Zealand someday. I like heat and sexy accents! :P
Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year! I love everything about it, both scary and cute. I love costumes, decorating, and handing out treats. Halloween crafts are so much fun, and I'd love to hear about any of your ideas for crafts. As for swaps, feel free to send me Halloween related stuff year round - depending on swap requirements of course.
I try to take pictures of all my 'creative' swaps, both sent and received, but sometimes it slips my mind. :(
PLEASE contact me if you haven't received anything from me. Things can get lost on the mail - thankfully this hasn't happened to me yet though. I WILL send another package, so please give me that chance before rating me!!! :)
***Profile updating constantly in progress. :D
I love Mark Montano's Big-Ass Book of Crafts! I whip it out every so often and find something to make.
I can do some basic knitting, but I'm still learning. The amazing things that some people can do with two sticks and a bit of yarn kind of boggle my mind.
I have yet to learn to crochet, but I've got some beginner's books to help me. There's always YouTube tutorials as well!
Embroidery makes me happy, sooo happy. I learned a few years ago, but have just begun stitching in earnest - so again, still learning. It's actually my latest obsession, both the vintage stuff and modern. I'm also fascinated with needlepoint, crewel, cross-stitch - any stitching art really.
I'd like to learn macrame. I already learned a couple simple knots by making hemp bracelets back in high school. I really want to make a macrame owl, you know, the ones that were so popular in the 70s.
I really like silly, campy B horror movies! Other than that, I'm mostly into sci-fi, cartoons and comedies. Random favorites:
I adore Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham, Fairuza Balk, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Tim Curry in drag! :)
I have pretty eclectic tastes in music. I don't like or dislike any particular genre. I DO like original, catchy, happy, or even offbeat stuff.
My favorite artists are, in no particular order:
See? Eclectic! :)
Red Dwarf is fully awesome! I own the entire series on DVD, and never get tired of it. I'm also loving Dexter (still in second season, no spoilers please!), True Blood (still in second season, no spoilers please!), The Golden Girls, Three's Company, Roseanne, Gilmore Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, Flight of the Conchords, and Star Trek (TOS and STV mostly)
The only reality shows I really like are RuPaul's Drag Race, What Not to Wear (with Stacy and Clinton), and Hoarders.
I'm usually embroidering, surfing the net, writing something, or doing something crafty while watching TV. That way it doesn't feel like a total waste of time.
I've noticed lately that I gravitate towards certain things when browsing the thrift stores. I guess I've been a closet collector!
These are things I don't really participate in, have any interest in, or affiliation with...
