Comment: I love that you made the envelope from a McDonald's bag! That is so unique and I really like the embellishments you added to make it look like a collage. Thank you for the postcards( I love Engrish translations!). The tree branch is beautiful; very serene looking.

Also, I have this exact jellyfish notepad & write my "here's your swap for such-n-such" on it too. Small world. Yes, the cherry blossoms get prettier every year. When I worked downtown last year, I saw them frequently. I don't really like crowds though, even though they're helping the DC economy a bit *chuckle* Hope you're having a great weekend. ;)

Response: I just addressed and stamped it as normal, but bundled it in a large envelope with other Valentines I wanted to send, and mailed the big envelope to the postmaster in that town. I wrote on the outside "Valentine Re-mailing" and voila! :) Thank you for the heart!

I would love to go back and spend more time exploring. I did hike up Mont Royal very, very early one morning, hoping to catch the sunrise, but missed it by a mile.

Comment: Ooooo, you sent me to the web to look up Gocco printing, and now I am soooo jealous!!!!!! If you do try the letterpress printing thing, look into polymer plates. You have to deal with the hassle of making or getting them made, but I think they are way easier than lead type. And you still get that lovely embossing. Anything you can do in black and white on your computer, you can get turned into a polymer plate, so it's also way more flexible design-wise than lead type. Oh, and your letterfold arrived in perfect condition. Hearts for the instructions. I love that fold and want to try it myself!

Comment: I recieved my items but 7 out of the 15 books were damaged by water, spine was broken,Covers Were Taped Up, and pages were falling apart just by looking at them. Sorry i had To Rate Down On This Swap :(
Response: I really wish you would have talked to me about this first, especially since delivery confirmation says they arrived over a month ago. Because the books were to be from a thrift store, of course the spines would be cracked. I didn't read the books first and so didn't know pages would come out of some of them, and I don't think a few drops of water on covers of cookbooks (which is the only type of book you requested) is unexpected, seeing as they were previously used while people were cooking in their kitchens with them. However, I would have gladly sent different ones to make it up if you told me you were unhappy, but you never replied to my two emails when I asked you if they'd been received. :(

Comment: Thank you very much :) The pages are fun, the French lessons seem slightly strange and the "Life Cycle Library" is funny. It's also interesting how different the pages are from Finnish books of about the same era, Finland was still rather poor so the paper isn't of as good quality, illustrations are smaller and colour wasn't used much. And of course Finland was very far from being a multi-cultural country.
Response: Oh, I'm so glad you like them! The 50's era books have nothing but white children in them, so I thought it was interesting to see how quickly that mentality changed in the books from the 60's. Black children weren't depicted proportionally to their population, but a few tokens were scattered throughout. (No Asian, Hispanic, or Native American kids yet, though.) Thanks for the heart!
