Comment: Thanks for your review! The book I read (The House of Mirth) deals a lot more with society's expectations on women--I mention it since you seemed interested in that aspect of your book. It features a female lead who is basically brought up to be an expensive decoration and the ensuing inner conflict between her upbringing and freedom from it. I would recommend it!

Comment: Oh my!!! You read me perfectly!! The three books you chose from are three of my faves. The scene you mentioned in "Anne of Green Gables" is really one of my favourites. (My other favourite is the mouse in the pudding sauce, of course!) I received all the "Little House" books as a Christmas gift when I was young and I read and re-read them at least 100 times. Thank you for the thoughtful swap. I will certainly try all the recipes.

Comment: I'm sorry it took a little longer to rate you for this! I wanted to have a chance to be able to sit down and read all of what you wrote before reading it. I really liked how you set yours up also. I think next time I'll try something similar. I almost didn't notice that it was printed on both sides. I've never heard of the Agatha Raisin series but I sometimes like reading little quick light books like that. I've heard of Wanda Brunstetter but I haven't read any of her books yet. I do have one actually that I found on sale for a quarter but it ended up being the third in a series so I think I'll just end up passing that one on. I haven't found many amish fiction type books that I've liked that much. I added Number The Stars to my to-read list incase I come across it again. I always passed it up growing up because the cover looked boring. (I know I'm terrible about judging them by their covers some times) I also have been wanting to read The Giver. I love those types of books but I didn't read it growing up either. It's been talked about more again lately because of the fourth book she put out in the series last year. Do you plan to read the rest of the series? I may have to pick up Nicholas Spark's memoir after reading what you said about it. I've loved his fiction books but for some reason I was never interested in picking up this one either. I'm also interested in checking out A Hundread Summers it was actually on my to-read list before I read your list. So I'm happy to see you thought it was great. I love books and stories set back in that time in history. I loved reading all of your little reviews of the books you read this quarter. I had a pretty short list for this quarter because I had been so unmotivated and in a rut with reading. Luckily I'm getting back into it again. It happens sometimes with me so I'll have to read lots this next quarter so I can catch up with my 2013 reading goal!
Response: Thanks so much for your nice comments! I think you'll really like The Giver. I haven't yet tried the second or third books in the series, but based on advice from another reader, I skipped those and I am now reading Son, book #4. I'm almost done and am enjoying it. I'm very curious as to how it ends - I think the ending will make or break the story for me. The Wanda Brunstetter you picked up should be just fine to read on its own. All of her books stand alone pretty well and I don't think you will need to have read the first two before reading the third. However, it is pretty typical Amish fiction so if you don't enjoy those all that much, this author may not be your cup of tea. Happy reading! PS - I judge books by their covers, too! :)

Comment: I love the flower notecard! I think it is too cool there is a cat at the zoo that loves the t-shirts in the gift shop and no-one seems to mind him being there. And your three cats! Especially Daisy! Sounds like my roommate's cat Zoe..she always finds trouble. :) We seem to have hit summer here in northern New Mexico! We ran through Spring and it is in the 90's already here!

Comment: Thanks, Natasha. The Winter Palace sounds interesting, but I have a problem with historical fiction. I just can't handle it if I don't know which part is history and which part fiction. The Book of Mormon Girl sounds most interesting though, I'll have to see if my local library carries that. Religion is such a fascinating subject.

Comment: Thanks! Almost all of your recipes were something I've never seen before. I will definitely be trying the choc. covered cherry cookies. My dad is a choc. covered cherry fiend and I love them too. We both hate the ones with the gross white goop in them...has to be just a cherry & syrup. So those sound like something I could easily veganize & take some to work too.

I am on the same page as you (ha, ha!) when it comes to audio books - I like listening to something light that I have already read like Maeve Binchy or Debbie Maccomber so I can enjoy listening but it doesn't really matter if I miss a bit here and there. I'm going to have to look for The Dressmaker the next time I'm at the library - it sounds really good. Thanks for swapping! :)
