Response: Did the painting not get there? I have hit my first mail theft issue of the year, the incoming envelope was cut open. Please let me know if the painting was missing.
Response: There are zine fests all over the USA as well as around the globe. They are wonderful to trade and I have quite a collection. Quimby's book store in Chicago sells them on the racks. ☺ ☺
Response: So glad you liked it. ☺ Zines can be anything printed, there are so many formats and sizes! I have a lot of love for minis that you can get out of one photocopied page.
Response: Oh, they get eaten in the mass sorting machines. ^^' I better go back to putting tape on the edge of the stamp. Chicago is BRUTAL to mail. I am so glad it got there safe.
Response: Thank YOU for the years of hanging tough and keeping ATC swapping online alive and available to people. ☺ ♥ ☺ Hosts like you make this platform worth using for the rest of us.
Response: Oh, Brave is the Disney Pixar set in Medieval Scotland - it came out in 2012. Craig Ferguson did the voice acting for a character.
Response: I am so sorry most of my stuff is buried in a storage unit including my art collection. I wanted to send a better print of the Tara wood carved block but had to settle for the one with the little ink flaw I had put in my scrap papers for collage. I hope you can do something like cut it out and use it for your own work! :)
Response: Fantastic! This was a fun idea. I love birds and had a bit to share. <3

Response: So glad you like it. Thank you for swapping. <3
Response: So glad you liked it and thank you or swapping. <3
Response: So glad you liked it and very impressed with your ALT Code skills! The gift envelope is Chinese for Lunar New Year. Kizuki is a ramen and izakaya restaurant that I hope to go to again soon. They do a small Japanese culture festival which is very fun. I always wanted to do art for a children's book. =^-^= Other than that, just drawing a lot.
Response: I had them for some time but just needed to find them the right home. Thank you for swapping and best to you!
Response: So glad you like it! <3 Best to you!
Response: Yay I am so glad you liked it! I saw that in your profile and I was SURE I had a yellow envelope with a card, so I scurried so fast to look for it. ^_^
Response: Aw you have a hound dog? I hope it is a Basset, too! Ten Ren is a major brand, but you might not be aware of it if you do not have a local Chinatown or at least an international tea shop. You can find it online though. :3 So glad you liked the swap. <3 Thank you for swapping! Be safe and best wishes to you.

Response: Thank you for joining my swap! <3
Response: So glad that it got there safely! That is one of the most fragile things I have ever tried to mail in an envelope. <3
Response: Mimikyu wants to go Trick or Treat this year! The money is for burning at a Chinese fire festival so relatives can benefit. You can burn an imitation of something (like money) and it is still good. I guess the American Chinatown versions are a bit snarky or ironic. There are also sheets of rice paper with gold leaf on it for an upgrade or for the ancient ancestors, not sure of all the details except that it sends gold to the afterlife. Hopefully this means those in the afterlife do not have credit debt. :3
Response: Thank you for joining my swap!
Response: The bunnies are Japanese brush pen. I like the Pentel one since it can be refilled; the Kuretake are disposable. The stickers are washi paper Japanese imports except for the Kizuki restaurant summer festival logo. :3
Response: They are in a specific, smaller tank at the aquarium and last time I was there, I noticed people walking past it. I stopped them and I was like "Have you SEEN THESE??" They were amazed. You have to look for them but one you spot one you can spot the rest. :3
Response: So glad you liked it all! Thank you for swapping. <3
Response: Thank you for trading! :3

Response: We need winter to ice skate outside! :d Also, for running the oven for hours on end baking treats. :D
Response: Thank you for all of the hosting you do; it is very much appreciated! <3
Response: I belong to a local hackerspace / makerspace and we have two laser cutters. See if a college, library or makerspace is near you with one open to the public to use (with the right training.) Also, they are good for etching rubber for stamps. O>O You buy a particular kind of rubber for laser cutting. I probably should not have told you that... :d
Response: That's great! So glad I could help. :3
Response: Minnesota girl will be fine. The ones from Florida... Arizona... winter is a shock. O>O lololol
Response: Bunnies are adorbs. Thanks for swapping!

Response: Thanks for hosting! :3
Response: Aw. I can see three stars on a good night. One is Mars. :o

Response: Thank you. It's always nice when I can switch it up and do a mixed-media work. ðŸ›
Response: It took a little while but now he's doing fantastic and his personality has really come back. Poor thing was in pain and now he's super happy, just a little worse for wear.

Response: I feel so humble now. ^^' Thank you!
Response: I had fun with that set and the colors just kind of came together on their own. Funny when that happens. :D Thank you for trading!
Response: Definitely go to and support a zine fest if one is in your area, or maybe think of starting one like at the public library. ☺ Chicago has a vibrant zine community. Everyone can make them! ♥
Response: Definitely go to and support a zine fest if one is in your area, or maybe think of starting one like at the public library. ☺ Chicago has a vibrant zine community. Everyone can make them! ♥

Response: There is a local comic book artist and zine fest at my local library this weekend. If there is no zine fest fun at your library, maybe start an event! ☺
Response: The Art Institute renovated the Medieval European section and it is stuck in my brain! ^^'
Response: Yay! I wanted them to be a pair... but, not, like THAT because they're related and all. :d Hahahaha!!!
Response: I'm so glad you liked them & thank you for swapping. ♥
Response: (No lightning bugs were harmed in the making of this ATC.) :D
Response: So glad you liked it. :3 Thank you for swapping!
Response: So glad you liked it, thank you for trading. ☺
Response: I have seen it on everything... t-shirts, sewn shirts, pants, hoodies, shoes. It is an endless wave!
Response: I have the movie on DVD but have not seen it! :d I need the bf to go away for a while because he's not going to be in for this one. Ha!
Response: Khaleesi won't be alone for much longer. . .
Response: I was pretty hung up on using this gray gel pen I bought at Kinokuniya, a Japanese book store and stationery shop. ☺ This shop has amazing pens from Japan!
Response: Yay, I am so glad you liked everything. The Chinatown medallion is K'uan Shih Yin (Kannon / Kwanyin) the Buddhist saint / Goddess of Compassion!
Response: I think the Joyce Kilmer wrote we shall never see an ATC as lovely as a tree. :D
Response: Wow, I feel special. ^^' I'm glad you liked them! ♥
Response: Yay, I am glad you like it! ♥ I read all the books from my college library and Chicago Public Library, so I checked two out again for reference. ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: Are they trying to migrate or defend their turf? A history teacher told me the ancient Romans used geese to guard their treasury for hundreds of years, and it was robbed right away when they switched to dogs. :D
Response: OK that was the re-send. So sorry the original swap was lost. Thank you for being patient and thank you for swapping. ♥
Response: Thank you so much for all the hosting you do for the group! ♥
Response: For the safety of the local county, and the sanity of your local sheriff's police, you need to keep those goats on the the straight and narrow! :D I'm glad you like the ATCs and thank you for swapping.
Response: Thank you for joining the swap! ☺ ♥ ☺
Response: totes no problem :3
Response: There are many patterns and sizes of zines. I am mainly into making "mini zines". Larger ones are more like books or comic books. The point is they are self-published.
Response: Thank you for joining my swap! ☺
Response: Ah, I did not know that design was a PC stamp because someone else sent it on an envelope and it did not get cancelled so I recycled it. ^^' I'm late to the party on any new designs for stamps because they are hard to get at my local post office. You go to the postal counter to buy stamps and are told there are none available, the staff is like where do you think you are? My post office is amazingly bad. Read the Yelp reviews for the Lawrence Avenue 60625 post office: it's pretty amusing for a catalog of human rage.
Response: Take care of Loki for me. I played hockey with a guy named Thor last night (actual legal name) so we'll keep it our little secret. XD Baseball card holders are good for storing ATCs. I use the collector pages and 3 inch binders to store most of mine. ☺
Response: I read profiles and if I can put in some extras that are a good fit, they are in! ☺ So glad it got to you without bursting. I was really pushing it with the weight on that one. :D I often wring every penny out of a stamp.
Response: Merci, mon ami! The swaps don't happen without people like you hosting them, and it's work some days. Thank you for everything you do. ☺ ♥ ☺
Response: You are so welcome. I am so glad you like bugs! O__O I put a lot of time into them both. The chubby caterpillar stuffing his face might be my 'spirit animal.' :3 Basically my response to any 'all you can eat' buffet... :D
Response: Thanks, Lou! I will try to think up something more fun, less practical for next time. :3 I figured you mail a lot, they would be used. ♥
Response: Yay, glad it got to you in one piece. I was concerned about the envelope being strong enough to hold up with the stuffin' because I got carried away on that one. :D Let us all be grateful for the power of tape. ^^'
Response: So glad you liked them. ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: I'm glad you like it! Thank you for swapping.
Response: I miss Andy Rooney and that makes me legally old, right? ^^' I can only believe he inspired a generation of wiseacres behind him. :D

Response: Thank you for joining my swap. ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: I'm glad they got there okay. I was stressing about the charms being chunky. ^^' My local post office uses wild bears to sort the mail... at least it seems that way.
Response: I got a little nuts with the confetti. :3 Glad you liked it!
Response: I was going for "happy tree" but will accept "fancy tree". :3 Shout out to Bob Ross totally intended. ;D
Response: YAY! :3 I am so happy to know you like it. Thank you for swapping!
Response: I use the junk mail, free ad postcards or food box material to buffer the art from any tears, dents and dings. The damage gets absorbed by the packaging and not the art. :3 Chicago mail sorting machines pound through hundreds of thousands of pieces a shift and they are brutal!
Response: Yay, that was a fast delivery! I like using food boxes when I make book marks. That one has a photo of an ATC I made for a child who dances. ☺ I hope it made your mailman happy, too!
Response: Thank you so much and glad you liked the work. The zine was tough to make but it made me feel better. Time is short, ya know? My cousin Megan and I were pallbearers because even with her husband and my cousin Kelly's boyfriend, we can't come up with six men in my family!
Response: I'm so glad you like it! I just had to do something with their little faces. :3 Bostons are so cute. I WAS going to have them decorate a cake... but that was dumb. Then it hit me: tea time!
Response: Oh good, the art doll arrived! If that one was lost or mangled in the mail, I would have cried for a month. I had sooo much fun making it. :3
Response: Yay! Baby elephants with their momma are the best. :3 You can see the love.
Response: I'm so glad you liked the swap! :) Stay in touch and enjoy Chi town. Quimby's Bookstore is the local zinetopia if you have not been there.

Response: So glad you like them and thanks for joining the swap! It's been a while since I've had a twinchie swap. ☺
Response: Happy Shark Week! Thank you for joining my swap. Many ♥ for Chinatown swag. ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: Zomg whole city is amped about the win, even people that don't watch hockey, lol! I don't stress about things coming slow because Chicago mail is a nightmare. Everyone can send on time, then it will be weeks late grinding through the system here. ^^' Thank you for swapping! ♥

Response: Free models ^^' at least on the old style trains. The NYC trains makes it too hard.
Response: Love sending to you, thank you for hosting!
Response: Sorry, it was not my top shelf work. I was driving out of state weekly for long shifts at the hospital to sit with my grandmother who went from a cancer diagnosis to death in six weeks. The whole family is a wreck, my mother and aunts were freaking out and the funeral was real hard. I have been crying a lot and barely got that postcard out the door. I wrote down your address and will make it up to you with a random surprise, something real nice, sometime in the next few months. ;_; I lost a lot of time since November just trying to cope so quality art time has not been happening at all. I'll make sure to send you a good mail art envelope.
Response: I hope your husband is better now! ♥ I understand how exhausting that level of care is for a loved one. Take good care of yourself.

Response: Haven't gone to ComiCon in years, at least since it was spelled like I just did. ^^ I guess I'm giving my $ to ACen these days. Have fallen behind current stuff on ComicCon and C2E2, just dumped Invincible by Kirkman so don't even carry a current title right now.
Response: Thank you for the nice comment. I think everyone can draw, you just have to train your hand / eye coordination. ☺ It's the same skill you use to write your name with a pencil. Zines are great and the zine trader community is really wonderful.
Response: Aw, I missed you! Thanks for swapping, this was a fun round. ☺
Response: Thank you for hosting! I just did a bunch of book pages and bound them last night. Monoprinting acrylics is helping me recycle papers! ☺

Response: Yay, you're welcome. ☺ I can't take too much credit for the background, it's a Fiskars plastic plate for texturing paper. It turns out these texture plates work good for thin metal. They come in a set and are by the scrapbooky stuffs in a crafts store. ☺

Response: I ♥ Ze Frank. That was where Ze Frank, a laser cutter and spray paint all came together! Please enjoy the short video "True Facts: The Anglerfish" here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-BbpaNXbxg
Response: That one came out really cute. ☺ I'm so glad you like it!
Response: There are a lot of printmaking groups in Chicago. ☺ I hope to join Spudnik Press some time soon because I can afford to print there. I totally miss etching and the 100 hours it takes to make a few dozen items. :D Although who does not love intaglio ink? ♥
Response: I gave a link on your profile, check it out! It is a very popular article. ☺ You just need to get started.
Response: Oh good! I was hoping it would be received well. ♥ I wanted it to be loving and happy. ♥ Thank you for swapping!
Response: Thank you for joining my swap! I am hosting round two on WIYM now. ☺
Response: So glad you like them! I need to continue that series.
Response: I'm super proud of how that one came out! :D I did a 24 drawing slam when the temps hit -30 F and there was an emergency warning on all media to not go outside unless you had to do so. The whole city was mostly shut down for 3 days. :p
Response: Awesome! I just think he is saying "I wuv you!" :D It is hard to paint a whale is is mostly black and black and shades of BLACK. :D
Response: Chicago is way too cold for me, too! ☺ We've been buried neck deep in snow all winter. Thank you for taking on the extra. ♥

Response: I copied Chinese paintings with a brush pen for Chinese horse art! They are very boldly rendered in the originals. Gong hay fat choy!
Response: Yay! Thank you for hosting. ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

Response: Sorry, I don't know. :( There is no sign or anything near their aviary. There were two doves, a canary and different finches all mixed together. They are in a nursing care hospital. Probably the kind of finches you can buy at a pet store.
Response: Yay! ☺ ☺ ☺ I kept worrying I could have done better. I'm not too good at fan art stuff. ☺
Response: I was in a cartoony mood! ☺ I was attached to that one. Going to play with more mixed media soon. These darker theme ones were from the same sitting: http://artg33k74.deviantart.com/art/ATC-Dark-Hearts-408470559

Response: There are a lot of Whippets named Devo! It's a whole thing. ☺ Because: Whippet. Whippet good.
Response: Like inchies... only 100% bigger! :3 I did so many inchies last spring and summer, the twinchies are starting to seem big to me. 6-9

Response: So glad you liked it. ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: So glad you like them! ☺
Response: Uh oh, that called "a foster failure" or also "a foster flunky" here in Illinois! ;D I was SOOO close to being a foster failure because the last kittens, my dogs LOVED the two so much! Five animals would be too much vet bills though. The PEPs [pointy eared puppies] went to the shelter adoption program.
Response: I ♥ plastic collectible storage items. ;D
Response: Bunnies ARE lovable! :3

Response: Oh good! ☺ I took a gamble on that one. I figure at least one of your cats will be present. ;D
Response: It is CMYK Process silkscreen acrylic inks on cardstock paper. The design is through a hand cut paper stencil. ☺ I do it as a demonstration to show silkscreen process and keep the bad prints people reject, then make them into envelopes.
Response: See ya next round! ;D

Response: I live in the Lincoln Square neighborhood in Chicago, aka Old Germantown. Finding that old heavy font in German is actually pretty hard! I lucked into a $1 book at a yard sale with the cover falling off. I'm going to stretch the pages as far as they will go. ☺
Response: It had hexagons on it, so I had to send the green fabric! ☺
Response: You're welcome! I drew it in brush [no pencil], painted the cartoons then I scanned them and did the layout in Photoshop. I could have used InDesign, but I did two separate pages and I'm better with stacking layers in 'Shop. ☺ I ♥ overlaps in digital media and phsical art media.
Response: I get to as many shows as possible every year and usually all at AIC! ☺ If you have any remote interest in the subject, you would be amazed. I am going back soon. Manet's painting of Victorine Meurant in "Woman With Parrot" (she also being the same model in "Olympia") is right smack on the wall with a load of oblivious viewers streaming by it with little clue it is probably one of the most valuable paintings in terms of history the whole city this moment. Taken out of the context of Manet's life story it is put in a totally different context and it's being shown in a very superficial way. {Sorry, art geeking out! LOL} The whole gowns and all the accessories that went with them are on mannequins in huge glass cases, some on rotating bases, between the paintings of the same fashions. ☺
Response: They are some of my favorite teas. Ten Ren has a store in Chinatown but they also sell online. ☺

Response: Oh yeah it is true! Those are all the problem owners in my neighborhood! They make me much irritated. Also, my dogs are dumb and will get their noses bit off before their figure out the other dog is vicious. So glad you like the zine. ☺
Response: So sorry for that. It was an all around bad week. ☺ Thank you for your patience.

Response: The robins came back to our area. I asked on "WHAT were you thinking??"
Response: Nice to look at, okay to visit, just don't eat there! The food is awful and over priced! ☺
Response: I love when you get roving bands of people dressed perfectly Steampunk at random art events in Chicago. There was a group at an outdoor art fair I was vending at and they were amazing! People were taking pictures. Three top artists are Daniel Proulx of Canada, Tom Banwell of the USA, and Frank Buchwald of Germany. ☺
Response: Yay! That was among the last of my 35 mm film shots. ☺
Response: There is so much amazing new stuff at MSI now, it's like a totally new museum. ☺
Response: Yes, it's like speed has not made our lives necessarily any better. :/ You look at the career of William Morris and certain other people who questioned this in the 1800s, or the Impressionists worries about destruction of the environment, and we're still grappling with the same concerns.
Response: Someone sent me the Japanese gift wrap and I had to use it for someone else! Mizuhiki cord is terrific.

Response: You're welcome! I now have a little postcard stash to have a variety to send. ☺ I'm probably going to eventually send someone a duplicate if I get them twice though! ^.^'
Response: If it is a photo ATC from me, it is my own photography! Anything else is going to be collage and multi-media with obvious appropriated sources that have been manipulated [cut out, painted over, etc.] ☺
Response: Cloud photos were storms that could have potentially killed me! One was a tornado strike in 2003, the other squall last spring was whipping metal patio furniture down the street like paper. ☺ Yikes. I love WHOODINI! ♥ That's adorable!
Response: Wow, the mail was really slow! I am so glad it arrived safe and you like it! ☺
Response: You're welcome! ♥

Response: YAY! I am glad you like it! ☺
Response: I'm glad you like it! ☺
Response: You're welcome!

Response: I am so sorry!! I brought it to the post office and put it in the mail slot along with another one, hand placing it in the mail building at 1:00 pm in the afternoon. If you go to Yelp and search Lawrence Avenue post office in Chicago, you can see the four pages of swearwords dedicated to the staff there.
Response: YAY! ♥ I'm always glad when people like them.
Response: Oh, sorry I forgot the swap name! Glad you liked it.
Response: Yay! I'm going further into making these 3D object ATCs. ☺

Response: Yay, thank you! ☺
Response: Admittedly, I saved a stamp getting you for BOTH swaps! ☺
Response: So glad you liked it!

Response: Yay! I am so glad you liked it. Happy Thanksgiving! ☺
Response: You're welcome! Have fun with the tool. I hope you get a lot of use out it. ☺
Response: I think I may have sent you Georgia O'Keeffe with Freddie Mercury. Is it a woman to the left? I may need to see it, I did two expansive series of Recursive Icons [rose and black] of visual artists and musicians. No one gets Ansel Adams, no one is used to seeing him, just his work! O'Keeffe, Adams, Stieglitz were all friends along with John Marin. ♥ Stieglitz launched Adams career.
Response: I'm so glad she arrived safely! ♥ Take good care of her!
Response: Oh I'm so glad you like it! I struggled with that one but now have the number of windows on the Chrysler Building down. ☺ Skyscrapers are hard to draw.
Response: That's great! I am so glad you like them. ☺
Response: So glad you liked them! I am pretty proud of the inchies. ☺ They're a challenge to make.
Response: No way! That was a total coincidence. My friend gave me some books to chew up and use. O.O Wow. I wish I could take credit for being that clever though. ^.^'
Response: I am so glad you like it! This was a fun ATC swap. Have fun with the papers. ♥
Response: I strive for great every time. ☺ The thick board is a sports card "decoy". I get them off my boyfriend and two baseball card shops. People rummage boxes of cards looking for autographs, patches and game jersey cards. The sports card industry started putting the blank decoys in the packs so that collectors could no longer cherry pick the valuable packs. I LOVE mounting my painted cards on the decoys. Also, they are rigid enough that I can use a light to heavy varnish on painted cards [no flexibility = no future cracking in the varnish]. ☺
Response: Man goes into cage. Cage goes into salsa. Shark's in the salsa. Our shark.
Response: I had a meeting to get through and a pen. ☺
Response: I couldn't scan it! I just got a black rectangle! ☺ Fun to make, though.
Response: You're very welcome! I hope you have fun with everything! ♥
Response: Thank you! My alleged "style
" is "all over the map" better known as "eclectic to a fault". 6_9 LOL!
Response: YAY! I try to read profiles every time. ♥ I grew up looking at a lot of old hand-colored photographs, so I came up with a four step process to imitate the antique photos. People hand colored a lot before there was color photography and a lot of the time it was a job that went to women. ☺
Response: That was a fun trade idea. I had a great time working on that one! ☺ ☺ ☺
Response: I use it as a template to view find areas of photos, patterned paper, magazine pages, etc. I place the clear piece and trace around the outside and cut out the section I want for ATCs. :)
Response: YAY! ♥ I am glad you like it 8)
Response: Thank you so much! Thai mulberry bark Unryu paper and tissue paper are great for layers.
Response: Oh you have the other Indian bride colored pencil drawing! Those did not scan well. I should have photographed them. I was really excited about that pair. Thank you!
Response: Thank you! I liked a photograph I found with a view looking up at the shark.

That's just the Swedish Fish talking. ^.^' Get fine art from fine artist. I'm so glad you like it! I hope the piece of shell and Chinese buttons stayed on the front. I mummified the frame in the box with all that tape and wrapping. 8D The shell is from Montrose Beach, Chicago. So now you have a piece of Lake Michigan! Here is how the background was partially made. I've been using this technique like mad since I learned it:

I up the level my mottling colors on the background before the dispersion technique. It gets intense if you do many layers and work with transparency:

I have also added other layers with spray paint:

Response: YAY! I am in another of your swaps, so I think I have a refinement to that process which I tried for the first time on the clock ATC. The source file is morgueFile open source here: http://www.morguefile.com/archive/display/229362 I inverted and manipulated the original. I contribute stock to morgueFile and deviantART. ♥ ♥ ♥
Response: I read your profile & felt you would like those specifically! Certain ones I wanted to stay together. ♥
Response: I am going to put thread on all of them in this series. I really like how that one came out.
Response: I'm so glad you like it! Each one came out a little different. :)
Response: Yay! I like mine a lot. I keep it in a plastic container with cutting tools and card back. It was a huge help with patterns like the Italian marble hand made paper I used in a series.
Response: You're super welcome! I hope they fine a fun home in a project or similar. 8D I walked around the block to get the model leaves!
Response: Aw, that's so nice!! @_@ I leave the backs black because people can glue them onto other things, too.

Response: You're welcome! I learned painting small scale is a lot easier than small scale color pencils. ^.^'
Response: YAY! I love antique post cards.
Response: I scanned 300 dpi resolution and printed the detail on a professional photo printer. I put on gold paint on the wand! ♥ The original is really nice. If you know how to handle res and have good printing, you avoid banding and pixelation. I'm totally loving learning digital. :D
Response: Thank you so much! ♥ The secret to watercolour: paint in layers with dry time between.
Response: YAY! I'm glad you liked them.
Response: Thank you so much! I am glad you like it. The draftsmanship is stolen from Japanese ukiyo-e master Torii Kiyonaga circa 1760s. ♥ I took liberties with the colours and background.
Response: You're welcome! I am so glad you like them. ♥
Response: Thank you so much! I am so glad you are happy with the seahorse.
Response: YAY! I am so glad you liked them. A set was easy to make and made sense so you could use them for pages in scrapbooking. I am totally nuts about papers.
