I took a photo from the same spot 10 years ago, when I went there to celebrate my 40th bday with my best friend, although it was snowing, so it was a lot more grey and cloudy than this pretty photo. I hope you are doing well and staying safe in this crazy world. We are okay - trying to stay well as everyone here in SoCal seems to be sick. We are hoping for a much better 2022! Comment: Wow! The Great Smoky Mountains - that was a great "mountain" PC to send and really meant something to us. We visited the Great Smoky Mountain NP in December 2019. My wife's best friend had a wedding in Gatlinburg, TN and we made a long weekend out of it. It was after the fall color change (apparently when everyone goes), but it was still amazing to see. We don't have a lot of greenery in the deserts of southern Arizona, so we're always impressed by dense forests with streams running through them. If you do get the chance, try to enter the park early in the morning. We made the drive from the Sugarlands entrance (northeast side, near Gatlinburg) to Cades Cove (western side) around 6A in the morning. The road/park was almost entirely empty which gave us a lot of opportunities to stop, get out of the car, and walk around with crowds of people. It was amazingly beautiful. Also, if you have the chance, take one of the quick "nature walks" at a visitor center. When at Sugarlands, we took a very easy "hike" (it was so easy it was more of a walk than a hike) to Cataract Falls. It only took about 45min round trip, and was worth it if only for the chance to be "in" nature, not just seeing it from the car or a scenic outlook parking lot. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
