Comment: Alayna, even you mailed your swap late on 4th Dec where the due date supposed to be on 25th November. I don’t really mind that much but too bad I did not get the swap. I message you on 4th Feb regarding this swap and you said you will re-send. That was around 12 days ago on our last message. I saw your last log in was on 9th Feb and hope everything is fine with you. I will sure re-rate it if I receive your swap.
Response: How do you know I mailed the swap late? I am not sure if I did or did not, but while unfortunate you did not get the swap, it was not because it was mailed late. You contacted me, told me it was missing, and I resent. It can take 2 weeks in the U.S. and up to 4 weeks international for mail to arrive from my town, which I share in my profile. I resent the postcard, and you left a "1" rating regardless. :( Hopefully the second card arrives soon, but do expect it around the end of the month, based on past experience with delivery times to your country.

Comment: I never received this swap, I followed up on the 5th September and this message was not even read..... I also followed up on the swap I sent, but only got a 'assumed she got it as was away" but never confirmed either way if she received it. And no rating of course....
Response: I was indeed away from Swap-Bot for about 6 weeks, due to a death in the family causing me to travel back home. If the mail was "Unread", it unfortunately meant I simply never saw the message during that time period, as I am good about responding. You did follow up to see if I received your swap, and I gave an honest answer at the time---I was away from home so had no idea. I did rate every piece of mail I received, but to be honest, if I don't receive something--I typically just let it go. I don't give out "1" ratings, I just assume things happen and don't rate at all, instead of ruining someone's feedback. The fact you didn't receive a rating means whatever you sent was not in my pile of mail, but because I believed you sent it as you said you did, I wasn't too worried. The post office is not always the most reliable. I always resend when I know my swaps have gone missing, and will be happy to resend this one as well.:)

Comment: Hey Alayna - I absolutely appreciate the nice envelope you sent. Generally I don't rate down...but this was sent almost 3 weeks after the send by date and I didn't get any heads up. It's important to communicate if you are sending late or something happens. Thank you for the stickers and the Autumn Fairy card.
Response: Frankly, this is one of the things I dislike about Swap-Bot. I put a lot of energy into my swaps, do not send people random stuff in an envelope and call it a swap, and STILL get rated down. I did NOT send late, actually. If you read my profile, 2-3 weeks is the average time it takes for mail to be delivered to and from my part of the world. (I just received a swap from early November). I have no control over this, and never have any idea when something is postmarked, actually leaves California, and have even had swap partners remark that they've received my envelopes without a postmark at all, as if it were hand-delivered. I'm really sorry this was the exception where you chose to "rate down", because it wasn't exactly the fairest one. While it is important to communicate late sends, I didn't do that, so there was nothing to communicate--and the delivery time with my mail service is very clearly noted in my profile. :) I am glad you enjoyed the swap. :) - Alayna <3

Your letters were such a delight and I really enjoyed reading them all! The papers you used are all so pretty and it was so lovely to get a glimpse of your life through your writings. You seem to have quite many creative souls around you, which is wonderful. I lost my creative circle after graduating but I deeply hope one day I'll be surrounded with other creatives again... I majored in printmaking but towards the end of my studies I got increasingly interested in textile art, which I am now focusing on. Sewing, eco-printing & dollmaking are some of my main interests right now ✨ I do agree that even though swap-bot is mostly a wonderful site with endless opportunities for creativity & connection, there are also traces of pettiness & malice found here... It is interesting to learn that you are a professional in music! I am only an amateur pianist who always plays the wrong notes but I enjoy it all the same 😂. I find Rachmaninov very hard to play as his music often requires all ten fingers to play and I don't have big hands 🤣. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday!

Response: I'm glad it showed up! Delivery from the middle of nowhere has been frustrating. Today, I received an "official" letter that said "Return by Dec. 5th". It's Dec. 5th. The letter was dated Nov. 23rd. I can only assume that cowboys have been stealing post office boxes and holding them hostage in the Wild West saloons nearby. :P

The things you sent are lovely and I do appreciate that you followed through and resent after I had to rate a 1 on 7/17. I'm sorry but I feel like I can only change this to a 3 because it was so late. July 17: The send by date was 5/31. It shows you sent on 6/1, but nothing ever arrived. I contacted you on 6/15. On 6/24 you said you would send by 6/27. As of 7/17, nothing has arrived. Will re-rate if anything arrives.
Response: Of course that is your choice to make, and appreciate you changing my "1" rating. :) I am glad that you appreciated the package, even though family emergency precluded the 6/27 send I had promised. There are times where you have to drop everything to attend to illness in the family, and it's a shame Swap-Bot doesn't really have a work-around for that which keeps everyone happy...but there really isn't one. It seems to be one of the major reasons people get "kicked off" the site: unplanned family emergencies that lower your ratings and keep you from coming back in future. However, I have made good on the swaps I missed due to this, and that's all anyone can really do! I am sorry for the inconvenience, and glad your mail was received. :) *hugs*

Comment: Belated thank you for the beautiful window box of flowers, metallic polka-dotted tape (reminds me of the costume and scenic design of Hairspray :) I don't know how I feel about the Live! version's casting, but I will try to withhold any comments until I see the production in December, heheh), and colorful stickers (the concentric stickers remind me of the evil eye charms in one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants). Speaking of Hamilton, I saw that partial principal casting for Chicago was announced, as well as the departure of Daveed Diggs (in two days!) and Renee Elise Goldsberry (sometime this fall). I would love to see the Chicago production, since there are several lesser-known cast members in addition to Karen Olivo. Hope you and Sebastian are having a good day! It's raining intermittently, so my cats are napping <3

I was actually dreading logging in because of all the vitriolic "You didn't do something on time and are a thoughtless person" mail and ratings--and I wasn't disappointed. I have unfortunately had to deal with family stuff, so my responses have been slower than I would prefer. However, there is mail coming your way, and you and your letters are always like a little ray of sunshine. :D I did hear about both of their departures from Hamilton, which is a little sad, you always wish you'd been able to see the OBC when it's an epic show!! It may be worth it to travel to Chicago to try to catch the secondary cast! Sebastian says hello and "meow". LOL. *hugs*

Response: This swapper was, I feel, a bit unfair in giving me a low rating without even communicating about it or offering the chance to make up the swap or other helpful thing. On her profile, she asks this courtesy be extended to her, but was not offered to me. I contacted her to ask if there was a way to make the low rating right, but there was no reply. I feel this was overly harsh and I should be allowed to do something to correct this mistake, and should have been contacted before the rating was posted. :(

I will have to check out Reign (I am aware of it, but I have actually never seen it, The Borgias, Outlander, GoT, or any historical/fantasy royal-related show, although I love that genre and history :) And yes, I agree, it is a shame about Prince. Comment: Love the Oscar Wilde quote. He really said some fantastic things. It is sad the way his life turned out. I must say, I did not enjoy "Dorian Grey" and I read it as an adult, it was not a forced high school reading...
Response: Hehehe...I sent out three different Oscar Wilde quotes, and everyone loved them!! He was quite fabulous. I personally think he was a better dramatist than novelist, and even better personality...he rather invented the concept of "snark". *laughs* Dorian Gray wasn't one of my all-time favourites, either. The story lends itself to film well, though.

My mother had a heart attack and had open heart surgery 2 years ago. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the US. Sorry to go into a diatribe, but that card made me happy! I hope you are well. Comment: Sent late with no communication. I didn't only receive it late because of the post office, but because you sent it out nearly a week late.
Response: I had difficulty with this challenge, because between the holidays and the fact we experienced "Snowpocalyse" that shut down access to a lot of stuff. I learned I should have communicated more with partners; also, some are more understanding that others about late arrivals. Unfortunately, both my 3's from this swap have left swap-bot, so I cannot do anything to improve the ratings or send a karma RAK out.
