About Me

I take pictures of my swaps before I send them out and post on FLICKR. If you have not received a swap, please reach out to me. I do reach out if I am not rated.

I joined Swap-Bot in 2008 after a friend blogged about her experiences here. I had a lot more time back then!

My user name comes from a portion of my summer home address in Maine from before they put in a paved road and changed the address for 911. I was struggling to come up with a user name (way back in the 90s) and everything I entered was taken. I figured no one else would use part of that address and I was right.

I spend more time on TikTok, Youtube and Pinterest than I'd care to admit.

I'm a letter writer, postcard sender, traveller, doodler and quilter. I still send out birthday cards and Christmas cards to friends and family.

I see inspiration every day in nature and the ordinary things around me.

I love all colors but especially those found in nature along with blues and browns.

My favorite postcards are unusual, thought provoking, art, architecture, foreign places, vintage, creepy, funny, animals, and recipes.

I started quilting when I was far too young and had much more time to do so. I like to work on smaller sewing projects including Alzheimer's fidget blankets. I like creating my own patterns and designs. I have some unfinished quilting projects of my grandmother's that I plan to complete.

I've enjoyed collab handmade postcards, collab coloring postcards, mini-zines, handmade envelopes, mail art, handmade bookmarks and junk journaling creations.

Books/Podcasts/Magazines

πŸ“š I'm on GoodReads.

Because I commute an hour each way to work, I listen to a lot of audio books. I listen to them on Audible, YouTube and find second hand audiobooks at thrift stores and used book stores.

I'm up for any Mexican history/heritage book recommendations.

I've also collected Nancy Drew books - the kind that I had in the 70s and early 80s. My husband and I looked through antique stores and thrift shops trying to find the ones I am missing and now I have them all (except the cookbook). I would like to read them all from the first book on.

I read a few magazines when I'm looking for something different and shorter than a book. My favorites are Mary Jane's Farm, Garden & Gun and Daphne's Diary.

Podcast that I Enjoy: Crime Junkie, Business Wars, Noble Blood, The Deck, The Arcanum Project, In the Dark, The Global Leadership Podcast, Coffee Break French, Bear Brook, News in Slow Spanish, You Must Remember This.

πŸ“ŒRecipes (I love to bake, cook and use the crock pot, air fryer and my InstaPot). I'd be very interested in any dog food or dog treat recipes you may have found to be wonderful. We are vegetarian (not vegan but I do a lot of vegan recipes). I enjoy old family recipes, too and the ones from Church fundraising cookbooks. I'm currently translating my great-grandmother's handwritten French recipes. Also exploring traditional Mexican recipes.

πŸ“ŒInteresting articles from magazines or newspapers that you would like to share or even magazines (gently used is fine)

πŸ“ŒLocal lore articles from your area.

πŸ“ŒAnything you made: art, envelopes, notecards, crochet, knitted, etc.

πŸ“ŒHerbal Teas / Green Teas or other teas (No loose, please and no Matcha)

πŸ“ŒUnusual stamps, vintage or foreign (used is fine)

πŸ“ŒAll things dogs, cats, chickens, bees and pink

πŸ“ŒBook or Podcast recommendations

πŸ“ŒA pen pal letter.

πŸ“ŒI'm learning Spanish - so anything that helps.

Comment: You have to host this swap again because I spit out my Dr Pepper when I read what you wrote "the title is cursed". LOL. Then you made me laff again with "Books That Disappoint Me Under Identical Titles." I'll definitely be giving them both a pass. I recently read a book by Tiffany Jackson that hit the DNF pile so hard that it almost registered as a small earthquake. NO time for inferior books, lol!. I love Angie Thomas and Nic Stone's books, and I enjoyed one book written by Dhonielle Clayton so far. Same with Nicola Yoon, liked one of her books. Until the next book swap!xxMuggleMom

Comment: Super fun collection of vintage items, Sarah! You are pretty brilliant, esp. this being one of your 1st times doing a swap like this! You put a tremendous amount of work: sewing on the lace, making the fun pockets (esp. the accordion one!) and sweet collaging. Well done! I hope we get to swap some more!

Comment: Coming back to fix my rating, as I mistyped: Agatha Christie's library (!!) - I can't wait to get to work next week and show our mystery book club leader - she will love it. I also like the inscription on the LFL outside of your friend's townhouse - it's very sweet. Thank you for sharing!

Comment: New side quest triggered - taking pics of famous people's libraries! Totally wish I had thought to take pics of Agatha Christie's library when I visited. The only famous library in London I took of someone's was the fake Sherlock Holmes library on the tour and I couln't even get into the room as it was roped off!! LOL!! Have you read 'Jane Austen's Bookshelf" by Rebecca Romney or "Shakespeare's Library: Unlocking the Greatest Mystery in Literature" by Stuart Kells? I also recommend this graphic novel for giggles because it's so true: 'I Will Judge You by Your Bookshelf' by Grant Snider. I hope you build your LFL and then send me a pic!! Are you going to use the plans on the LFL or make up your own design? I was going to do my own design but haven't started yet because I can't decide. And with so many in my area, do we need another LFL? All mine were full to the brim! LOL! Thanks for sharing your amazing pics!! xxMuggleMom
Response: We bought a book on Ebay that she had on her shelf and one of our dogs ate it! We tried remembering the title for years and finally, last fall when we were in England, my husband emailed Greenway about it. They looked through the shelves, located it and emailed my husband back with the information and told him that they "thrive on unusual requests".

Comment: LOVE the scratch off card!! I got "should have a pretty cover" & "thrift shop find" both are so doable! Thanks for the inspiration - I'm buying these cards for my book club baddies!! Your story about the "How to set boundaries with your adult children" audiobook 'mishap' was hilarious! Thanks for joining the swap, and please be kind to yourself and DNF more wretched books. xxMuggleMom
