Comment: What a clever ideas I like the mild horror theme really awesome. Unfortunately the card got bent and wet but that’s mostly on the back and the front still looks fab. I’m sending all my handmade cards in cello bags. We just can’t trust the postal services.
Response: That is unfortunate, i will look for some cello bags when i get the chance, it sounds like a better idea than to send in an envelope, I've had many letters and swaps come to me damaged, our post office is not the best in this location.

Language difficulties would make a person feel so isolated, especially at such a young age. Your artwork was so fitting to the theme of the poem and so detailed and creative! Response: thank you so much for the comment, i enjoyed making it, Poe was one of the first few poets I read as a kid, reading was my safety place, after school and sine i had an open mind on books I enjoyed all sorts of topics including poetry.

My favorite photo is the next to the last one, where he's in front of a keyboard; he has such beautiful eyes and in this pic you can see his markings and the nice contrast between his white socks and his striped fur. And those ears!!! He's absolutely gorgeous! I can just imagine him on the shelf, knocking off your treasures. Thank you for sharing so many pictures of him. It makes me want another cat in my house!

Response: It is a possibility, unfortunately hundreds of people who pass into the US illegally have gone missing, and are never reported. Unless I can find out the exact date, location and family members reporting a lost boy, it would be impossible, also taking into account that all of the people paid to bring you into the states would never give out the exact location so that the boarder patrol won’t find them.

(Full disclosure I wrote all that before I started your letter) Thank you for sharing your story with me ( although I did tear up.) I'm glad things turned around for you. I've always heard spirits we've lost grow up with us. When my dad was passing he said that he could see four children. My family lost my older brother the day he was born, and my mom had three miscarriages before my sisters and I were all born, so I do believe our loved ones stay with us. <3

Response: Thank you for reading, we are from Guadalajara Mexico, we went back a few times during our summer breaks, but at a certain point I didn’t feel like I was from there any more, at the same time I didn’t belong in the USA either, I was stuck in the middle mentally.

How well I know about that. My first husband was one. An abusive __hole. Who was physically & mentally abusive. But wow, how scary, you having to deal with a Stalker! I'd have been out of mind with that situation too! It took me years, before I could trust another man though. I met my 2nd husband in 1988. It was 2 years before I could fully trust him. By 1990, I finally did & we married that same year. He's my sole mate. Thanks so much for sharing your story with me. What a story at that!🙁 I'm so gald that stalker is long gone out your life! Like you, I too have bad anxiety. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day.

I don't really like eyes either. I never had movie stars or musician posters on my walls as a teen because I didn't want the eyes to watch me. :( My stuffed animals were always my best friends when I was little - I still have one cat :) - and we used to 'talk' too. :)

It sounds like Luz knows you will not punish her and takes advantage of that. I am not saying beat the crap out of a kid. Not at all! But do not let a little kid walk all over you.

I loved your art work, and since this will also be my first zine, I find it hard to really give any feedback, but I did want to point out that the zine was actually the wrong size... it was supposed to be twice the size you sent... Also... I had a hard time deciding if this was actually a zine... because it seemed more like a miniature story book to me. To me a zine is a mini magazine... But since this was our first swap, I still rated a 5...
As a side note- you are an awesome artist!
ETA: Sorry you found it confusing. I wish you had messaged me to clarify if you found it confusing. It wasn't really the content that didn't meet the swap requirements, it was the size, where I clearly had stated "You will make it using standard size paper (8.5x11 inches) folded in half. "
