Response: It was supposed to be more watercolor-y, but I couldn't find an ultra fine point sharpie. The thicker lines called for bolder color. I sealed it with Valspar gloss topcoat because that's what I had. I don't like the rough finish. I think you can use any kind of spray - I read recommendations for Krylon.
Response: Enjoy every minute you can with your kiddos. There will be plenty of time for reading when they are grown. :)
Response: You are so very welcome, Alexis.
Response: You are very welcome. Your sister-in-law should be familiar with The Scrap Exchange. They are a big part of the community here. It's a lot more than a store.
Response: Hooray for you!
Response: Thanks, Patti. Yup, that wolf was just sitting there waiting for you to come along. :)
Response: Thank you, Kelli, for your kind words. :)
Response: It is strange. We have had dogs that eat people food even if they don't like it because they think they SHOULD like that cherry you dropped on the floor. But Argus went out of his way to get to the peppers so I know he liked them.
Response: I'm so sorry, Charlene. I checked all the edges with my fingernail before sending, but I guess maybe it loosened up when it was exposed to the damp air. :( I have asked several people how to make these durable enough without getting glue all over, and I've gotten no answers really. Google is no help either. Everyone is saying "just glue it down." Yup, it's as simple as that! Ugh.
Response: Awww...Thanks, Janis. :)
Response: Hah! I have multiple smash journals going, and they don't even have different themes. It's a "vibe" thing.
Response: I'm sorry, Ellie. The last time I left the country was on my honeymoon 26 years ago, and that was just to Canada. :(
Response: What a great guy you have!
Response: You are so very welcome! Doodling on envelopes and postcards has really helped me relax about trying to draw. People aren't expecting much with an envelope, so any fun, personal touch is appreciated. Check out jlink's comment a few posts down. The turtle she speaks of was NOT well drawn. :)
Response: I just drew it with a sharpie and colored in with watercolor pencils. For years I have been using them to gently color in stamped images. This was my first experiment with laying on the color thick.
Response: You are very kind. :) Did you get my other snowy day package, Kathi-Ann? I want to make sure it didn't arrive postage due.
Response: Sorry about that. I always want to write a bunch, and then there isn't much room for the necessities. Puzzles like that are supposed to be good for the brain anyway, right. ? :)
Response: You're welcome, Diane. My unwillingness to drive certain places used to save me lots of money. Now we have amazon. :)
Response: I did buy them just for the boxes. I think at this point the boxes are more useful! I have tried to think of a way to reuse the tapes, but plastic is just not my thing.
Response: Interesting. Omaha supplies us with wheat too. We "get" our corn from Des Moines and St. Louis. :) So glad you like the card. I thought the art work was cool.
Response: You are welcome times 1000! I am so glad you liked it.
Response: Thanks for the recommendation. I will look into it!
Response: You are so very welcome, Jenesis. The toys are not as artistically creative as other things I do, but I enjoy making them knowing they will bring much happiness. :)
Response: Funny. I didn't know what is was either, but I just looked it up. It's Maxfield Parrish. The Dinky Bird was/is an illustration in a book of poem's for children. There is a really interesting article about Parrish's work on Wikiwand.
Response: You are very welcome! Yes, I inked the edges to make it look a little more finished. Unfortunately, I purchased those little recipe cards at a yard sale. They come in a mini recipe box. It's called TEA TIME Mini Box of Recipes.
Response: Thanks, Tammy. The squirrels just lived in the neighborhood, but she would have 20 or so in her postage-stamp lot at feeding time and just as many pigeons. It must have looked a little creepy to passersby who didn't know better, but she loved them.
