Thank you for the swap cards, but I have to admit they were upstaged by your account of your recent terrifying encounter with the mama bear protecting her cubs. Yikes! Glad it ended well. When I visit my friend in Cashiers we hike a lot and often see bears - but thankfully never in attack mode. Thanks again for the cards, especially the dogs chasing the car & the dressed up dogs!

Comment: First off, I am smitten by your return address stamp. What a beauty! Thanks for all the special cards. I had never heard of Shing Yin Khor, but am now a fan. Her PC alone would've earned you a star! My 2nd favorite is Wim Wenders street corner photo with the accompanying story about the street lamp. I know of him from some of his films and will now seek out his postcards. And the dude with the hose in his mouth cracks me up, in the same way that the "weird science" photos do. You don't even need to know what's going on because your imagination creates all kinds of scenarios. Thanks so much for sharing all these with me. Hope Helene hasn't impacted you too badly. She was one hell of a storm. My friends in Cashiers can't get off their mountain.

You had a 5 and a heart before I even opened it (and I wouldn’t have opened it if I knew what swap it was!) And then I turned it over and saw the Sound of Music 🎶 (which I also watched with my grandmother for the 1st time). My daughter & I went to the SOM sing-a-long at the Hollywood Bowl a couple years ago. Wish I could give you more hearts ♥️ thanks again!

I was just wondering myself about whether a card with a matching postage stamp on the front can be considered a maxi card. I think serious collectors would say no, but I try not to take anything too seriously so it's fine by me. Love all the terrific vintage stamps on your envie too. Hope your great weather continues. Comment: Oh my goodness! What a beautiful piece of art. Thank you. I agree that the demands of being a letter carrier are little understood by the general public, but I love a challenge and enjoy the job. I just got my transfer to my own town, so now I have a 5 minute commute, not 1 hour :-)

Mine always attract the Red Cardinals & every so often the Wrens. But as of late, I haven't seen any birds lately, due to the snowstorms we getting. As for waterfalls, I too have been a lot of them. Esp. Niagra falls both sides NY & Canada. Both beautiful! If you ever get to PA., there is a falls called Buttermilk falls in New Florence, PA. Which is about 2 hours from here & is so beautiful! Comment: Wow wow wow! These are amazing and i love the box. Haha, definitely have had those moments where the card doesnt fit the envelope and feel your struggle. Its an adorable card anyways. But those backgrounds! You must have made a ton(i did too), there is so much variety and so many cool techniques! Part of me just wants to put them together as a mosaic in a frame and put it on my wall, haha. I keep taking them out and noticing new details. Thank you so much!
Response: I had even more fun this time than I had last time creating these backgrounds.I decided to use molding paste for some of my texture and I love how that turned out. I'm really glad you like them. They would make a nice mosaic, I was thinking the same thing about all of them that I've gotten. They are like little pieces of art in and of themselves. I got some great ideas from the last set that I got, that's why I decided to use the molding paste. Thank you for putting a huge smile on my face and the heart.

These are great!! Ive had the same thoughts on why would the male birds or most male creatures be prettier/brighter than females. But there is a reason for that. Did you know?? The male has to stand out to capture the “heart” of a female companion for one. And second, females are neutral in color because they stay back with the nest or young to care for and it’s a disguise to their predators. Thanks again. Take care.

Comment: We have badlands in Alberta, too (and I don't live in them; Calgary is in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains, but there's lots of prairie, too) - dinosaur bones are still being found there. We have a world famous dinosaur museum in Drumheller. I love the map card you sent of the badlands in SD and the North America map card is new to me, too. Thanks for listening to the James Blunt vid - I love him. The stickers great :)

Response: This took a while to create. I did build the collage. I found images I liked and "cut" them out in Photoshop. The pine took the longest because of the tiny limbs and bits but I finally found a technique that worked well. I love how the mountains meet the ocean. Also thought you might appreciate the Fem pc. I love the whole series. I made the envelope also. Designed it and put it together. If you look at the edges you can see the template lines. Very happy you like the ornament and thank you for the heart!

Response: The inked background looked like a mountain scene to me and so I enhanced it and added trees and birds. So glad you like it and thank you for the heart. Someone sent me an ATC with a shaving cream inked background and I loved it. She sent me a piece to play with and I asked her how it was done. Here is a tutorial if you're interested: https://abeautifulmess.com/2015/03/how-to-marble-with-shaving-cream-and-ink.html. I have used ink and food coloring but water color paint, acylics, other paints, alcohol ink and I'm sure other things can be used for color.

Response: I'm sure the beer sells in other stores here but I got it at the Hendersonville Co-Op. It is very tasty. IPAs aren't usually my choice but it's quite yummy. I totally bought it for the postcard! It's not too bitter and it has a bit of citrus taste. I really like the beer cap. It's silver with the name in black and leaves. It will be used in another project. I printed the back. Thanks for hosting the swap and the heart. Best to you as well!

Comment: You only needed to mail the one you colored as a postcard, but thanks for the extra card. You're good with colored pencils. Was that just pencil or did you use marker under it?

Response: I'm very happy you like it. I was surprised how many pieces I had in my stash to create it. If you look at the bottom of the barrels you can see foam and green paint where I pulled them from a different project to use. I did a piece for a show when I was in South Dakota that depicted things you love. We had wonderful vegetable and fruit gardens while we lived there. I loved growing and canning; still do. Really enjoyed creating this piece, so thanks for hosting it. You host some really unique and creative swaps.

The paper is Strathmore Premium Cambric Bright White 19"x12.5", 10 pack. I really like this paper, it takes ink very well! I got it from Mohawk paper, www.mohawkconnects.com/products/samples. I ordered several sample packs from them. You can get other sizes and amounts. For the price, it's a great deal to get sample packs.

Comment: This was a fun ATC! I really liked all the different elements. Just a note, I loved the vellum envelope (it was beautiful) but the edges were split completely! In future I might tape them :)

For her every day is a good day for tacos. As it happens, she's also been begging me lately to buy her a funnel cake. As it also happens, we have weekly family dinners with my brother who has to eat gluten free, and so the brownies will make the perfect dessert! Thank you again - getting this really made my day!

Response: That was taken in Louisiana. The houses there are painted with such vibrant colors. It's more arts and crafts homes or new industrial here, which are still quite beautiful. I took a lot of pictures of homes while in Louisiana!

The Native card is my fave, but the NC pcs are the first ones for my collection (did you notice the mistake on one of the NC cards - on the back, it has North Calolina, lol!) Response: I'm glad you liked both. I bought a lot of the old stamps from a postal customer. She had collected them over the years and decided she didn't want to anymore and sold them to me. I've also bought stamps from the same person on ebay. He sells them for less than what they're worth (which is really nice).

Comment: Thank you for the SO AWESOME Doctor Who postcard! I LOVE IT!!! I've been to NOLA twice now! Love the food! And the "Ghost Tour" was fun! I went to St. Augustine on my High School Senior Trip many, many years ago. I do remember it being beautiful! Cancun was lovely, but I didn't do any snorkeling. I guess I'll just have to go back!!!
